EXPÉRIENCE PROFESSIONNELLE

2015 : Avec le collectif de commissaires d’exposition Kuratorisk Aktion (Frederikke Hansen et Tone Olaf Nielsen), mon mentor André Eugène et quatre autres membres de mon collectif d’artistes Ti Moun Rezistans (« Résistance des jeunes »), originaires du bidonville de la Grande Rue à Port-au-Prince, en Haïti, j’ai animé l’atelier de deux semaines « Ghetto : L’art comme stratégie de sortie » à l’Académie royale danoise des beaux-arts de Copenhague. Durant cet atelier, notre groupe, qui crée des assemblages à partir de déchets de notre quartier en s’inspirant du vaudou et de l’histoire afro-haïtienne, a initié des étudiants en art à l’art du recyclage. L’atelier a abordé des thèmes tels que la ghettoïsation et l’immobilité sociale, raciale et géographique, le colonialisme et les inégalités mondiales, la surconsommation et l’exploitation, ainsi que l’art comme vecteur de solidarité, de développement durable et de mobilité sociale. L'atelier s'est déroulé en anglais et en créole.

De 2016 à 2018, j'ai participé à plusieurs ateliers créatifs au Centre d'art avec des artistes.

Je suis une artiste plasticienne, Professeur et organisatrice communautaire artistique de Port-au-Prince, Haïti. Je suis l'une des membres fondatrices du groupe artistique Ti Moun Rezistans (« Résistance des jeunes ») j'anime des ateliers pour aider les enfants de la région. Je suis une personne très motivée, avec un sens aigu du détail. Je toujours à la recherche une opportunité à l'étranger pour mettre en valeur mes compétences et progresser dans ma carrière autant que possible. Je suis flexible et je me considère comme une personne qui aime travailler en équipe, avec des qualités de leadership.  J’aime travailler avec les enfants et les jeunes de ma communauté afin de les aider à explorer leur talent et exprimer leurs émotions, sentiments à travers l’art. Je passe presque tout mon temps à créer de nouvelles œuvres d’art, à planifier des projets artistiques et des expositions à l’étranger. Je suis aussi une vraie passionnée de la culture Haïtienne.

J’habite dans un quartier de Port-au-Prince connu pour sa riche histoire artistique. Je suis né et ai grandi dans cette région donc la culture qui m’entoure a fortement influencé mon travail.

En tant qu’autodidacte, j’ai appris à peindre par moi-même développant mon propre style. L’une de mes principales sources d’inspiration est le vaudou haïtien qui peut être vu dans les couleurs vibrantes et les thèmes spirituels de mes peintures.

La situation est critique en Haïti en ce moment. Je leur ai rappelé que l'art est toujours nécessaire, surtout dans les moments difficiles, que ce soit pour se réconforter ou pour faire face à l'adversité. L'art, cependant, est universel. Haïti traverse une période extrêmement difficile et se trouve actuellement dans une situation désespérée. Parmi les initiatives prises, il y a notre école d'art pour enfants qui, malgré tout ce qui se passe, parvient à se réunir et à continuer de créer des œuvres uniques. En plus de leur permettre de continuer à exprimer leur créativité, c'est aussi la principale source de revenus pour nombre d'entre eux.

PROFESSIONAL  EXPERIENCE

2015: Together with the curatorial collective Kuratorisk Aktion (Frederikke Hansen & Tone Olaf Nielsen) and with my mentor André Eugène and four other members of my artist collective Ti Moun Rezistans ('Youth Resistance') from the Grand Rue slum in Port-au-Prince, Haiti, I conducted the 2-week workshop "Ghetto: Art as Exit Strategy" at the Royal Danish Academy of Fine Arts, Copenhagen. During the workshop, our group, which creates assemblages of junk from our neighborhood with references to voodoo and Afro-Haitian history, taught recycled art to participating art students.

 The workshop discussed issues such as ghettoization and social/racial/geographical immobility, colonialism and global inequality, overconsumption and exploitation, as well as art as communitarianism, sustainability, and social mobility. The workshop was conducted in English and Creole

WORKSHOPS

From 2016–2018 I participated in several creative workshops at the Art Center with artists.

I am a visual artist, teacher, and community arts organizer from Port-au-Prince, Haiti. I am one of the founding members of the art group Ti Moun Rezistans ("Youth Resistance") and I lead workshops to help children in the area. I am a highly motivated person with a keen eye for detail. I am always looking for opportunities abroad to showcase my skills and advance my career as much as possible. I am flexible and consider myself a team player with leadership qualities. I enjoy working with children and young people in my community to help them explore their talents and express their emotions and feelings through art. I spend almost all my time creating new artworks and planning art projects and exhibitions abroad. I am also truly passionate about Haitian culture.

I live in a neighborhood of Port-au-Prince known for its rich artistic history. I was born and raised in this region, so the culture around me has strongly influenced my work.

As a self-taught artist, I learned to paint on my own, developing my own style. One of my main sources of inspiration is Haitian Vodou, which can be seen in the vibrant colors and spiritual themes of my paintings. 

The situation in Haiti is critical right now. I reminded them that art is always necessary, especially in difficult times, whether for comfort or to cope with adversity. Art, however, is universal. Haiti is going through an extremely difficult period and is currently in a desperate situation. Among the initiatives taken is our children's art school, which, despite everything that is happening, manages to meet and continue creating unique works. In addition to allowing them to continue expressing their creativity, it is also the main source of income for many of them.

My art is inspired by Voodoo and nature. Voodoo is part of my tradition and played a vital role in the Haitian Revolution and the creation of the first free Black republic. It is a cultural heritage for humanity, a practice of memory and connection.
